A dead porn star descends from heaven to grant a virgin's wish for sexual confidence, and the resulting film has almost nothing to do with the two Meatballs movies it claims as kin.
MEATBALLS III: SUMMER JOB (1986) stars Patrick Dempsey as Rudy, an older incarnation of the original film's lead child character. This Rudy is an awkward young camp employee whose fairy godmother turns out to be Roxy Dujour, played by Sally Kellerman, a recently deceased adult film star sent back to earth to help him lose his inhibitions. Shannon Tweed appears as a fantasy figure called the Love Goddess.
Director George Mendeluk, working from a script by Bradley Kesden, Mendeluk, and Michael Paseornek, pushes the series firmly into R-rated sex comedy territory.
It is a curiosity of mid-80s franchise opportunism, cashing in on a name while discarding almost everything that made it recognizable.
