HELL'S BELLES (1969) is an American International Pictures biker film that is structurally a remake of Winchester '73 - the classic Anthony Mann western in which a prized object passes from hand to hand, each new owner more dangerous than the last.

Here the prized object is a motorcycle won by desert racer Dan in an endurance race. It is taken by a gang led by the vicious Tampa, who leaves Cathy behind as payment. Dan and Cathy argue for approximately seventy minutes as Dan works his way through the gang one by one across Arizona to get his bike back.

Jocelyn Lane, a former cover model once billed as the British Bardot, made this film near the end of her acting run. Three years later she married Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe-Langenburg.

Alfonso was the playboy who built the Marbella Club and turned a sleepy fishing village into a jet-set paradise. When they divorced, Lane reportedly waved off her million-dollar settlement as "not really fitting for a princess."

Angelique Pettyjohn, familiar to Star Trek fans as the woman who trained Captain Kirk to fight in "The Gamesters of Triskelion," also appears in the film as Cherry.
