Nothing Lasts Forever

Nothing Lasts Forever (1984)

One of the strangest cult films of the 1980s was barely released at all.

NOTHING LASTS FOREVER is a black-and-white fantasy directed by SNL oddball Tom Schiller, produced by Lorne Michaels, and starring Zach Galligan just before Gremlins.

It also features Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, moon maidens, authoritarian Port Authority goons, brain implants, and one of the most uncanny recreations of 1930s-style cinema ever put on film.

MGM was supposed to release it in 1984.

Instead, it was shelved.

No real U.S. theatrical run.
No proper home-video release.
For years, it survived mostly as rumor and bootlegs.

Which only made it more legendary.

The irony is hard to beat:
a film called NOTHING LASTS FOREVER almost vanished completely.

Have you actually seen it, or is this one of those titles you only hear about from other movie obsessives?
