Richard Elfman founded Oingo Boingo before his younger brother Danny Elfman joined the band and eventually left to become one of the most celebrated film composers of the last forty years.
Richard stayed in the experimental underground, making Forbidden Zone in 1980 with Danny playing Satan, and then a series of films that circulated in the margins while his brother won Oscars. Richard also married a burlesque dancer and choreographer named Anastasia, and cast her in this film's title role.
Richard Elfman describes the BLOODY BRIDGET (2023) festival run as something approaching a religious revival - fifteen festivals, seven awards, audiences who arrived uncertain and left converted. He and Anastasia perform live burlesque pre-shows where feasible.
Bloody Bridget is a micro-budget horror-comedy about a waitress and burlesque dancer who is arrested for assault after defending herself. When she attempts to take her own life, Baron Samedi - the Haitian Vodou deity of death and resurrection - intervenes.
He believes her to be the reincarnation of his disappeared wife, Maman Brigitte, the red-haired Celtic goddess of Irish mythology adopted into Haitian Vodou as their goddess of death. He transforms her into a "Valentine vampire." Blood is no longer enough. She must eat her victims' beating hearts.
The film features a score by Danny Elfman and Ego Plum.
At least one Letterboxd reviewer found it irredeemable and walked out. The Rotten Tomatoes critics consensus calls it "a celebration of camp and gore."

Saw it at its premiere at Horrhound in Ohio – A really fun watch – Brian Yuzna was there and sat next to me
You should mention the Gong Show imo
Matyas Gyulai Ah, you mean because Oingo Boingo performed on it. Thanks, good addition.
Anywhere But Hollywood 🥂
I finally see a movie I actually want to watch and nobody can find it, figures
Why does no one use the bands full name?
Ha, well in this case, it’s because I needed the sentence to be short enough to get to the point in the first line!
