Starfish (2019)

A young woman, a dead friend, cassette tapes, creatures arriving from somewhere beyond.

STARFISH is a film about the end of the world. It's also a film about grief, and this is what makes it matter. A.T. White wrote and directed it while going through a divorce and after losing his best friend to cancer.

Virginia Gardner's Aubrey doesn't move through the film like a genre heroine. She moves through it like someone in shock as reality comes apart around her.

White also composed the score, which means almost every element of the film passed through one person's grief before it reached the screen.

Starfish premiered on the festival circuit in 2018 and found its audience slowly, the way films like this tend to - person to person, late at night, passed along by people who felt like it was made specifically for them.
